Common Problems With Char Broil Grills
Char broil grills are fantastic; designed to take cooking into the great outdoors, there is not many foods as wholly satisfying as a charred steak, burger, ribs or seafood. However, they do have a tendency to break down at the worst possible moment; usually just as your friends have arrived at the door.
However there is no reason for this to be the end of the day; having to resort to yet another take out, or pizza delivery. Here is a quick guide to the most common problems that we have char broil grills, and how to fix them or what to do.
The most common problem is that the grill will not light. This can often be accompanied by a low hissing noise too, but there is rarely any need to worry or have cause for concern.
Before anything else, ensure that your gas tank is not empty. If it is, or if it has a very low level, top it up and try again. At this point, it is also worth checking that the hose between the gas tank and the grill is securely attached at either end.
If either of these steps does not work, or there is no audible hiss, there will most likely be a blockage on the hose. Ensuring everything is turned off, gently tap the burner, shake the regulator and pull some cloth through the hose. This will hopefully dislodge any blockage. At this point, it is also worth checking the burner is clear of grease and dirt.
If this still does not work, there is really nothing you should do yourself, as further action can be complicated and dangerous. There is most likely something wrong with the regulator, so buying a replacement one of these is advisable. However, it could be best to take the whole unit back to the hardware store and let them advise you.
If your gas seems to be flowing through to the burner okay, but there is still no luck with lighting, it is reasonable to assume that the ignition set up has failed. You can check this by seeing if it sparks when pressed; ensure the gas is off before you look too closely though.
Again, a replacement part can be purchased here, though many people find it just as easy to use a handheld butane lighter with a long nozzle to get things going. However, do not use a disposable or petrol ignited lighter, as this is just dangerous and not worth the risk.
Another common problem with char broil grills people seem to complain about are odd smells. However, these are usually as a result of not cleaning the grill itself properly. Alternatively, it could simply be that the lava rocks need replacing.
Char broil grills are great fun, and always an excuse for a party. However, cleaning them up after the event is something many people get lazy about. Immediately of course, it is necessary to let these cool down. But the following day, soak the grill in a cleaning solution, scrub and wipe away any build up on the lava rocks and check everything over. This should stave off any problems before they start.

The Char-Broil AT405 four-burner grill provides a unique opportunity to benefit from four burners without additional cost. This grill features two separate bar burners that each have side to side individual controls for variability of cooking temperature across the cooking surface.
